Sunday was my first Sunday back to church since surgery and I was not disappointed. Of course I’m never disappointed when I go to church but there are some services that are just over the top and this was one of those. I find it hard to write about how powerful God can be sometimes. It is just not explainable. I will tell you though, that the POWER of the Holy Ghost so overwhelmed us that it was incredible. Everyone in the house was moved in some way or other. There was healing, deliverance, cleansing, blessings (bountiful), and the list goes on. I had rejoiced in this service all day Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Then last night going into the prayer room before service, I automatically was carried into His presence once again. The service again was kissed with God’s sweet presence as the congregation began to sing praises to our God. A young man, Kyle was leading the worship service and for his last song of the evening he asked everyone to get their songbooks out and turn to the song, The Old Rugged Cross. He said, “I know it may be old young people but I want you to pay close attention to the words. They are powerful.” As he began to lead the song, he wept. There was such a precious remembrance of what Christ has done for us at Calvary as we sang that “old song”.
My husband has been in a series of Bible Study about “The Rhythm of Life”. So far we have covered, Work and Rest. Last Night was his first study on Worship and all throughout the lesson you could just feel the Lord’s presence. At the closing of the lesson as we began to worship, God’s presence once again touched us is such a special way. It is just one of those times when we are walking in the Spirit.
There are many times when we must walk by faith and we are not feeling God so much. We feel like Job when he said, “Oh that I knew where I might find him! that I might come even to his seat!” (Job 23) So allow me to encourage you in the Lord. He does know the way you take. He will come through for YOU. Don’t give up. Keep worshiping Him! A breakthrough is coming your way. If He will do it in Hollister, He will do it wherever you are! YES HE WILL!
I love songs about Calvary. I believe God is pleased when we sing songs about the blood and His priceless sacrifice for us. I rejoice in these wonderful services you are having, and I know God can do it here in Oakley too! You’re right. It is hard to put into words how wonderful a move of the Holy Ghost is, but thanks for sharing what you did.
Carol, Keep on keepin’ on! God will do it in Oakley! Looking forward to hearing about it when it happens.
I hope you are doing well! We were travelling home from vacation during our service last night but Redonia texted me during service upset. She said, “Mom I’m upset that the youth today don’t know the songs I grew up with. The praise team just sang a hymn and the youth on the team had to use books and the youth in the congregation just stood there.” It was funny to me since Redonia is only 21!!! Later she told me the hymns have the best messages!
I had to smile when I read your comment. Redonia and Danelle could be twins when it comes to this subject.
Sounds like a great couple services! We also had unbelievable church on Sunday! God is so good!!!!
Glad you all had good church too. Nothing like it.
Ronda, your words struck a chord in my heart tonight. I started to read your blog earlier today, but now I’m glad I waited to just before going to sleep. YES HE WILL! Thank you! LOVE YOU!
Love you too! I’m glad you understand what I’m talking about.
Ronda – I feel such pride when a young person sings an old hymn because I know they have realized the value. I love the new worship songs but we must never let some of the old hymns die. That is one thing I have loved about freeWAY. They love to sing some of the old songs and even their new songs have depth and meaning. As the pastor’s wife, I’m sure you cried just seeing Kyle cry knowing he understands the importance of the cross. Thanks for this post. God is so awesome!
I love the old and new too. Just want it to be anointed.
Yes, of course I cried seeing how the song touched Kyle.
P.S. Hope you are doing much better.
I am getting stronger a little bit every day. Thanks.
Wishing a total speedy recovery. Loved your post, and how I needed it this morning. All I can say is a repeat of your words: YES HE WILL.
Thank you. I am getting better. And…YES HE WILL!!!!
