“For God so loved the world, that He gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life” John 3:16

In 1917, Frederick M. Lehman penned the words of a powerful hymn based on the Jewish poem Hadda mut.  He realized that words are not adequate enough to express the love of God, nor is the world big enough to contain it.

“Could we with ink the ocean fill,

And were the skies of parchment made,

Were every stalk on earth a quill, And every man a scribe by trade,

To write the love of God above,

Would drain the ocean dry.

Nor could the scroll contain the whole,

Though stretched from sky to sky.

O love of God, how rich and pure!

How measureless and strong!

It shall forevermore endure

The saints’ and angels’ song.”

I am overwhelmed by God’s love on a daily basis.  Not that I always “feel” it, however I am always aware of it.  There is no words to describe it.  There is another song that my brother use to sing that was penned by Tony Roberts, “Can’t Find the Words” and this is how I truly feel.

I’ve tried wonderful, marvelous, incredible too,

Unbelievable, inconceivable but these words would not do.

They all fell so short when I tried to convey the greatness of Jesus

So I’ve just come to say:

I just can’t find the words to really express,

The greatness of Jesus so I must confess

I’ve tried big words and small words but none that I’ve heard

Could describe Him.  I just can’t find the words.

I took down my dictionary,

I searched it all through.

I did a lot of lookin’ in some other books too.

But, when my search was over, I came right back around

To what I knew from the beginning, No Words could be found.

We found another good restaurant.  Thanks to Rod and Mindy and Kirk and Tina.  They gave us a gift certificate at Christmas and we used it this past Tuesday Night.  The  Shadowbrook is a phenomenal place to eat.  WOW!  It is built on the side of a hill and the way to get to it is on a little trolley.  Or you can take the steps through the beautiful garden but I don’t recommend it in high heels.   It is absolutely beautiful.  If you live close to Capitola, CA (Santa Cruz) it is well worth the time to go and enjoy this dining experience.
