I am still praying for all of the people on the Gulf Coast as I know many of you are. We have a host of friends and some family that live in this part of the country. My nephew, Jon Elms and his wife Brenda had to evacuate from Beaumont. They are in Dallas with my sister-in-law, Ginger. We are still waiting to hear if their church and home are okay. He has not been able to talk to anyone as of yet. My sister, Linda and her husband, Wendell are also in Dallas. Lufkin is without power and there is a lot of rain, flooding and wind going on. There is no electricity either. Linda was in Dallas already for a ministers wives retreat so Wendell just decided to go on up there yesterday. A lot of the ministers wives that were there for the retreat from down in the gulf coast area are just staying put for now. I think that’s smart. I am praying that God gives the workers strength and that they can get this area back up and running before much longer and these folks can go home. No more storms, please! I think they’ve had enough. 🙂

The Houston Metroplex is a mess. I’ve worried for the Gurley’s they are closer to Galveston. It is still raining very hard. The wind is strong, too. They are saying our area can be weeks without power. The house is already very humid and miserable. We have trees down, etc. Thank the Lord we didn’t experience structural damage. We have church families that did, however. This storm was so huge…like you said it reached from Houston to Beaumont to Lufkin and beyond. Think how far Houston is from Galveston yet Houston had flooding from surge. Of course, flooding now continues from rising water from the rain. Thanks for keeping us in your prayers.
It is moving through our area now, but has calmed “somewhat”. Lots of wind and rain! We still have electricity as of right now. Our prayers are with those on the coast.
See, more relationships. Almost everyone in Pentecost is related in some way or another. Jon is your nephew and Brenda is my nephew’s daughter. So, that means you are also related to Tena……. Lots of relationships going on…… hope all is find with all your relatives. Don’t want what happened to Bridget and Donald to happen to Jon and Brenda. Whew ! what a time……………………. love you
Tracie, I’m so glad you all are doing okay. I hope you have electricity now. 🙂 All I know for sure about the Gurley’s is that they did evacuate. It is very flooded out where they live. We haven’t been able to get in contact with them yet. I hope their house and church is okay.
You all are in our prayers. Love you.
Carla, I sure hope you don’t have major flooding in your area. I remember how it could flood in Texarkana when there was a bad storm and this one is the worse yet. Love you!
Esther,
I know….It’s a small world isn’t it. We are related somehow. 🙂 I did find out that Jon and Brenda’s church is okay. They had some structural damage. I haven’t heard about their house yet. Keep them in your prayers. Love you.
Thank you for the update!! I’ve been very concerned, and praying for, all the people in that area. I also have lots of friends and family in Texas and Louisiana and haven’t heard much from them, yet….
Gayla, I know you have a lot of family in Louisiana, especially. I sure hope they are okay. We just have to keep praying until we hear from them. Love you!
Ronda, thank you for the prayers. We are having to be away from “home” because of power outages, but we’re fine. Love you!
Linda,
I’m so glad you all are fine. 🙂 I don’t think I could stand it if you were in danger. Hope Jon and Brenda’s house is okay. Love you. 🙂
We have been praying. I called a friend (Billy Love) in Houston at 9 Saturday morning and they were in the eye of the storm then. He said they lost a couple of trees and power but they were OK!
