Too Funny!

Nathan and I are in Eminence, Kentucky preaching a 10 year Pastoral Anniversary for Robert and Sherri Eades.  Rob was in our church in Texarkana.  He was 12 years old when we went there and grew up, became a great musician/singer/songwriter and then the Lord called him to preach.  He met Sherri at a General Conference and the rest is history.  They have done a great work here in Eminence and the Lord will continue to bless them.

Here’s the funny part.  As I mentioned before, Rob is a great musician and songwriter.  I have always loved to sing one of his songs, “I Put my Trust in The Lord”.   So…I had already planned on singing that song tonight.  Well…..Bro. Sean Griffis (MC for tonight’s service) had Rob and Sherri sing too and when they started singing I recognized the song and began to sing along, back in my pew.  Something kept niggling at the back of my mind about the song they were singing…”I just feel it won’t be long now, ’til we see the King of kings….”  I finally leaned over to Sis. Terri Griffis and said, “I think I wrote this song”.  About that time, my husband looks at me from the platform and mouthed, “Didn’t you write this song”?  They kept singing,”……and I will Praise Him through eternity”.  Song over.  People were praising the Lord and Rob looks at me from the keyboard and said, “That’s YOUR song”.  LOL  I got so tickled thinking,  it’s pretty bad when you write a song and can’t even remember.  Well, I finally remembered that I did write that song and was blessed by the way Rob and Sherri sang it.  Put a couple of new twists (jazz moves) in it too.  Made me smile.  Then, I get up and ask Rob to play for me and he said, “Do I know the song”?  I said, “I think you might” and began to sing his song and he and Nathan joined in with me, “I put my trust in the Lord to see me through.  He’s never let me down, even though I thought He would.  And no matter how dark the night, I knew the Son would bring the light. I put my trust in the Lord to see me through”.

I guess we had a mutual admiration party going on.  It just struck me funny.  If you don’t think so, that’s okay.  Just let me smile.

Has it really been thirty three years?  I still feel like I’m that young blushing bride.  I was so excited for this day to come, 33 years ago.  As I was waiting to hear the organ play the introduction to the song I marched down the aisle on, “Here Comes Heaven”, I remember Daddy asking me, “Are you sure about this?  Are you sure you love Nathan enough to live with him the rest of your life”?  I looked him straight in the eye and said, “I’m sure”.  Little did I know at that time how much love can grow.  Looking back, our love for each other that day was nothing compared to what it is now.  All the things you go through together makes love grow deep.  One of the songs sung at our wedding was “Walk Through This World With Me” and that is what we have done.  We have walked together, flown high sometimes, crawled and sometimes just had to stand still, but we’ve had each other.  I’m thankful for the journey and I am looking forward to the future with the man of my dreams.

Yesterday I celebrated with my uncle and aunt their 50th Wedding Anniversary.  I am proud that C.W. and Gloria Pound are my relatives.  C.W. is my mother’s younger brother.  C.W. and Gloria, you deserve all the accolades that was given to you yesterday.  I love you and appreciate your kindness to me and my family down through the years.  Congratulations on 50 years of marriage!

***This photo was taken at my 50th birthday party last year.  I went to Rialto yesterday without my camera so was not able to take any pictures.  Can you believe it?  So….I am waiting on cousins Steve and Valerie (in photo above) to send me some.  Hopefully I will be able to post some of the big day then. 🙂

Yesterday we celebrated four years of being the pastor of The Pentecostal Church. What a great time we had. As I reminisced about the past four years I thought, “we sure have not been lazy”. This church, along with us has been extremely busy. God has been so good to us. He has blessed us with a phenomenal people. If I began to tell you about all of them it would take up way to much space. Suffice it to say that The Pentecostal Church family are incredible people of God. Their love for God, each other, the lost and their pastor and myself is sometimes overwhelming. I love them with a love that I cannot describe in words.

We had incredible church yesterday. From the very first note on the instruments to the very last prayer in the altar service, the presence of the Lord was with us. Bro. and Sis. Gurley from Houston was our special guest speaker and we were not disappointed. Bro. Gurley was full of the anointing and preached awesome. One lady was filled with the Holy Ghost!

After the service we enjoyed a time of eating and fellowship with our church family. This is always a highlight for us. We love to fellowship with our people and just enjoy being together as the family of God. Sis. Christina and Sis. Tena did an great job putting this all together. The young people served and cleaned up and did an excellent job. Several of the people spoke of us and how they felt. It was very touching and very humbling to us. Then they presented us with a gift certificate to be able to get away for a few days of relaxation to the Woodside Hotel of our choosing. These are very elegant, distinguished and gracious places in California. We are looking forward to those days. How thoughtful this was. Thank you again, church family. You are the best! Thank you for a great 4 years! We love YOU!

Today we were able to spend a good portion of our day with Ken and Tessie before they had to leave to fly back to Houston. We have been friends with the Gurley’s for 30 years and always enjoy the time we get to spend together. We had a very relaxing day with them. We went over to Santa Cruz and tried a new restaurant (to us), “The Crows Nest”. It is right on the Santa Cruz Harbor and was an absolutely perfect day. Then we tried to watch a few surfers but there was just no waves to speak of today. That’s unusual. However, we still enjoyed the beauty of the ocean scenery. And being with friends makes it even better. Can you believe I forgot to take my camera along today?

I thank the Lord for friends, family and our precious church family. He has been better to me than I deserve but I love Him for it. 🙂

They say time flies when your’re having fun.  I believe it!  It is hard to believe we have been in Hollister for 3 years.  God has done marvelous things and we are so very thankful.  Yesterday Bro. and Sis. Mullings blessed us by being part of our Anniversary Celebration.  He preached a message I will not soon forget, “His Name Shall Be Called Wonderful”.  Bro. Mullings talked about the “wonder of it all”.  And, oh how the presence of the Lord filled the sanctuary.   The Glory and majesty of the Lord’s spirit permeated the place as we wept and worshipped, standing in awe.

I just have to brag a little on “Vessels of Honor” too.  You all sang with the “anointing that breaks the yoke”.  The song, “I Am” and “Worthy” went right along with what Bro. Mullings preached.  Dominic and Danelle, you both did phenomenol.   God has been so good to us the past 3 years!  I can hardly wait to see what He will do in years to come.

Sis. Christina Atkinson and the church family fixed a great meal for after the service.  We really enjoyed the food and fellowship.  It was the perfect ending for a beautiful day.

When I started blogging 1 year and 9 days ago I didn’t really know what I was doing.  🙂  However, as I began to write and tell about life, the work of God, raising kids, going to conferences, good church, good preaching and myriad other things, I have come to thoroughly enjoy myself.  I have met a lot of good blogging friends from across the country and around the world.  I have also been able to keep in contact with family and friends and renew old acquaintances.  Thank you to all of you who read my blog.  It has been fun and will continue to be so, I hope.  May God’s richest blessings be poured out on you all.
