Last night Nathan and I went over to Monterey to eat at Benihana’s only to find it closed up tighter than a drum. ūüė¶ When your taste buds are set for a certain kind of food that is very disappointing. Well, we ended up going to one of our favorite little places, The Monterey Fish House and we were not disappointed. Nathan got the Prawn Pasta and I got Crab Cakes. Oh my, was it ever good. Simply Yummy. Don’t try to get into the Fish House without reservations on Friday or Saturday Night. You will wait for at least an hour unless you get there around 5:00 p.m. Of course I think it’s worth it. The Monterey Fish House is just a little pink building and does not “house” that many diners. I said all that to say this….I looked up the closest Benihana’s to us today and found it to be in Cupertino and lo and behold it is shut down too. At least they told me it was for renovations. I’m just wondering if the one in Monterey is closed for good or are they also remodeling the restaurant? Does anyone know about these things? ūüôā

Friday after Thanksgiving Nathan and Gary went bird hunting.¬† They both got two pheasants.¬† As boys they would hunt all the time up in Washington so this was really fun for them since they haven’t hunted together for so many years.¬† Gary took some pictures while they were out there so hopefully I will have them soon and be able to post them here.¬† This photo is of Nathan getting ready to go.

Today was a good time in our service.¬† Another one of the boys that was baptized at our “Back to School Bash” in the park was there with his grandmother.¬† You may remember me telling about J.J. and his dad?¬† They have been coming faithfully since¬†the bash¬†and J.J. has invited this other boy every Sunday since then and they finally came.¬† They both really enjoyed the service.¬† We will see what God has in store for them.¬† Halleluljah!¬† Nathan preached a great message on “Having Confidence in the Leadership of the Spirit”.¬†

After service we went to Chili’s because I was craving the “Peppercorn Burger” with a side of jalapenos.¬†¬† Why do you get such cravings?¬† Probably because it didn’t have any thing to do with TURKEY.¬† Then we came home and built our first fire of the season and¬† read for awhile until I got on here.¬† I am reading the book, “The Tipping Point” by: Malcolm Gladwell.¬† Very interesting.

Hopefully tomorrow I will start decorating for Christmas.¬† I usually have it done by now but, well……….I just don’t.¬† I guess I’m getting lazy.¬† Well, I did put my Christmas Wreath on the front door so that counts for something I guess.¬† And I did buy my 2007 Christmas Bear.¬† I started collecting Christmas Bears in 2000 and it has been fun.¬† They look so cute sitting¬†under¬†the tree before the gifts take their place and then again after the gifts are opened.

Okay, that is enough ramblings for a Thanksgiving Week-End.  Blessings!

snoopy-thanksgiving.gif  Right now I am having a love/hate relationship with Weight Watchers.  Last night at our W.W. Meeting I found out that I have reached my 10 lb. weight loss goal.  YEAH!!! However, during the lecture part of the meeting we found out just how fattening Thanksgiving Dinner is.  UGH!!!  Thanksgiving is my favorite Holiday when it comes to food.  Why oh why did I have to hear how bad it is on the W.W. point system.  Here is a short break down of what I learned last night.  My points for one day is only 22.

  • Turkey 2 oz. (2 oz. you’ve got to be kidding)¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬† 4 points
  • Stuffing 1/2 cup (again, you’ve got to be kidding)¬†¬†¬†¬† 4 points
  • Giblet gravy 1/4 cup¬†¬†¬†¬† ¬†2 points
  • Candied Yams 1/2 cup¬†¬†¬†¬† 5 points
  • Green Bean Casserole¬† 1 cup¬†¬† 5 points
  • Dinner Roll¬†¬†¬†¬†¬† 3 points
  • Butter¬† 1 tsp.¬†¬†¬† 1 point
  • Mashed Potatoes¬† 1/2 cup¬†¬†¬† 2 points
  • Baked Yam–large¬†¬†¬†¬† 3 points
  • Pumpkin Pie¬† 1/8 of 9 inch pie¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬† 9 points
  • Apple Pie¬† 1/8 of 9 inch pie¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬† 9 points
  • Pecan Pie 1/8 of 9 inch pie¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬† 12 points
  • My “famous” Coconut Cream Pie¬†¬† (I DON’T EVEN WANT TO KNOW POINTS)

I’m not putting all of the foods that was listed and of course I won’t eat everything that is on the list.¬† However, I will eat dressing, gravy, turkey,¬†yams¬†and a piece of pie. ¬†Oh well, I guess I’ll give Thanksgiving Dinner a Weight Watcher whirl this year.¬† I am just having to really think about all these extra calories for one day.¬† Is it worth it or not.¬† Do I want to wake up Friday Morning and go “Yeah” or “Ugh”.¬† Well, I have a whole week to make up my mind.¬†

Twenty Three Years ago today (June 25th),¬† Danelle Layne Hurst made her entrance into the world.¬† I will never forget the moment she was born and was ecstatic that I had a little girl.¬† Her Dad¬†has always¬†called her his little “golden” girl.¬† When Danelle was young her hair was almost white (especially in the summer) and then it would turn golden and her skin would glow and still does today.¬† Danelle has always been a delight and a lot of fun.¬† No one can make us laugh like Danelle.¬† She just see’s life differently and hears and says words differently.¬† And I won’t go into all of that, but it can be pretty hilarious sometimes.¬† I have watched and been by Danelle’s side (along with her husband and our church family)¬†this past year as she has gone¬†through¬†some sickness and¬†some very bad days.¬†I¬†have seen her not hardly be able to put one foot in front of the other and yet she kept pressing on.¬† She¬†kept holding on.¬† Thank God for people of prayer who continually prayed for¬†Danelle and now we are seeing our “golden” girl begin to emerge again.¬† I know brighter days are ahead.¬† Danelle, I am proud of the way you have kept on going and now you are seeing the light at the end of the dark tunnel.¬† Keep walkin’ girl!¬† You are a winner!¬†I’m proud to say that you are one of my dearest friends!¬†

When my children were little I always asked them what they wanted me to fix for their birthday dinners.¬† However, as they got older¬†I¬†ask them if they want me to cook them a birthday meal or they can choose the resturant they want to go to.¬† Danelle loves Benihana’s, so we took her¬†to Benihana’s in Monterey¬†after church¬†Sunday.¬†¬†We had a great time of fellowship and yes, laughing.¬† Picture is of us at Benihana.

Yummy!

We found another good restaurant.¬† Thanks to Rod and Mindy and Kirk and Tina.¬† They gave us a gift certificate at Christmas and we used it this past Tuesday Night.¬† The ¬†Shadowbrook is a phenomenal place to eat.¬† WOW!¬† It is built on the side of a hill and the way to get to it is on a¬†little trolley.¬† Or you can take the steps through the beautiful garden but I don’t recommend it in¬†high heels.¬†¬† It is absolutely beautiful.¬† If you live close to Capitola, CA¬†(Santa Cruz)¬†it is well worth the time to go and enjoy this dining experience.
