I am posting this again.  The first time I posted this was 7/22/2006.  It has been one of the most visited of my posts.  I hope you enjoy and that you come in contact with the Master of the wind today.

Years ago, a farmer owned land along the Atlantic seacoast. He constantly advertised for hired hands. Most people were reluctant to work on farms along the Atlantic. They dreaded the awful storms that raged across the sea, wreaking havoc on the buildings and crops. As the farmer interviewed applicants for the job, he received a steady stream of refusals.

Finally, a short, thin man, well past middle age, approached the farmer. “Are you a good farm hand?” the farmer asked him. “Well, I can sleep when the wind blows,” answered the little man.

Although puzzled by this answer, the farmer, desperate for help, hired him. The little man worked well around the farm, busy from dawn to dusk, and the farmer felt satisfied with the man’s work. Then one night the wind howled loudly in from offshore.

Jumping out of bed, the farmer grabbed a lantern and rushed next door to the hired hand’s sleeping quarters. He shook the little man and yelled, “Get Up! A storm is coming! Tie things down before they blow away!”

The little man rolled over in bed and said firmly, “No sir, I told you, I can sleep when the wind blows.”

Enraged by the response, the farmer was tempted to fire him on the spot. Instead, he hurried outside to prepare for the storm. To his amazement, he discovered that all of the haystacks had been covered with tarpaulins. The cows were in the barn, the chickens were in the coops, and the doors were barred. The shutters were tightly secured.

Everything was tied down.

Nothing could blow away. The farmer then understood what his hired hand meant,

so he returned to his bed to also sleep while the wind blew.

When you’re prepared, spiritually, mentally, and physically, you have nothing to fear. Can you sleep when the wind blows through your life?

The hired hand in the story was able to sleep because he had secured the farm against the storm.

We secure ourselves against the storms of life by grounding ourselves in the Word of God.

We don’t need to understand, we just need to hold His hand

to have peace in the middle of storms.

When I read this story I was reminded of a couple of songs my mother use to sing. One said, “I know the Master of the Wind. I know the maker of the rain. He can calm the storm, make the sun shine again. I know the Master of the Wind.” The other one had words like, ” ’til the storm passes over, ’til the thunder sounds no more, ’til the clouds roll forever from the sky…hold me fast let me stand in the hollow of thy hand. Keep me safe, ’til the storm passes by.”

For as long as I live, I will remember Mother sitting at her piano and singing that last song, “hold me fast, let me stand in the hollow of thy hand….” as she battled cancer in her body. Her voice was very weak but her spirit was strong because she had secured things between her and her maker. I could tell and so could everyone around her that she was not afraid of the stormy winds blowing in her life. Thank you God for a mother that really did KNOW the Master of the Wind.

The first response to any crisis is prayer; urgent and honest prayer. Before we turn to money managers and governments, let’s turn to the Maker of the Universe.

Max Lucado

You Have Our Attention, Lord
A prayer by Max Lucado – October 2008

Our friends lost their house
The co-worker lost her job
The couple next door lost their retirement
It seems that everyone is losing their footing
This scares us. This bailout with billions.
These rumblings of depression.
These headlines: ominous, thunderous –
“Going Broke!” “Going Down!” “Going Under!” “What’s Next?”
What is next?
We’re listening. And we’re admitting: You were right.
You told us this would happen.
You shot straight about loving stuff and worshipping money.
Greed will break your heart, You warned.
Money will love you and leave you.
Don’t put your hope in riches that are so uncertain.
You were right. Money is a fickle lover and we just got dumped.
We were wrong to spend what we didn’t have.
Wrong to neglect prayer and ignore the poor.
Wrong to think we ever earned a dime. We didn’t. You gave it. And now, tell us Father, are You taking it?
We’re listening. And we’re praying.
Could you make something good out of this mess?
Of course You can. You always have.
You led slaves out of slavery,
Built temples out of ruins,
Turned stormy waves into a glassy pond and water into sweet wine.
This disorder awaits your order. So do we.
Through Christ,

God will always give what is right to His people who cry to Him night and day, and He will not be slow to answer them. (Luke 18:7 NCV)

I can’t quite get use to this…In our paper every week it has the statistics for the earthquakes we have had the past week. It is printed right along with the weather, rainfall totals, reservoir totals, moon phases and the information of the sun and moon risings and settings.

Wednesday, March 5 1:55 a.m. (2.4) 4 miles NNW of Pinnacles

Tuesday, Mar. 4 5:08 a.m. (2.3) 8 miles NW of Pinnacles

Monday, Mar 3 7:26 p.m. (1.7) 3 miles S of Hollister

Monday, Mar. 3 7:19 p.m. (1.6) 3 miles S of Hollister

Of course I didn’t feel any of these. They tell me that having these little earthquakes is really good because it relieves the pressure. 🙂 Ok! Yes, we are still waiting for the BIG ONE. 🙂 I’m not sure what’s worse, being blown away by a tornado or hurricane or living in earthquake land. I’m just glad my life is in God’s hands. I don’t have to worry one way or the other. I think I would really just like to go up in the rapture. 🙂

Have a good day wherever you are. You could be buried under several feet of snow, or having tornado warnings today, or live where there could be an earthquake any minute. Whatever your state is, keep your eyes on the Lord and don’t worry. Our life is in God’s Hands.

I think you all will really enjoy this sign team.  I have seen many sign teams but this one is rather different from anything I’ve ever seen.  This was done at The All Regional Conference of the United Pentecostal Church International in Holland by the church in Oslo, Norway.  Enjoy!

I watched as the big burly man reached down gently and picked up the infant.  She was wrapped snugly in a soft pink blanket and cuddled next to him.  It was such a contrast; the big man and the little fragile infant.  I couldn’t take my eyes off of them for several moments.  He swayed gently to calm her when she whimpered and she immediately was silent.  The love in his eyes for his baby girl was so apparent.  I thought at one time I saw his eyes mist when he looked down at her.  I don’t know who he was or where they were going but there was no mistaking his deep love for his baby girl.

I couldn’t help but think of how gently sometimes I have felt big arms surround me when I was weeping.  One day when I came home from school in the 7th grade, I laid on the floor in our living room and wept as the song, “Sheltered In The Arms of God” played on the stereo.  It was as if I could literally feel the Lord’s arms around me.  How precious those times are when our Heavenly Father wraps us in arms of love and comfort.

If you need to feel His arms around you today, just ask him for His strenghth and comfort and He will be right there.

Sheltered In The Arms of God

I feel the touch of hands so kind and gentle.  They’re leading me in paths that I must trod.  I’ll have no fear for Jesus walks beside me.  For I’m sheltered in the arms of God.

So let the storms rage high, the dark clouds rise. They don’t worry me, for I’m sheltered safe within the arms of God.  He walks with me and naught of earth can harm me.  For I’m sheltered in the arms of God.

Soon I shall hear the call from heaven’s portal, “Come home my child, this is the last mile you must trod”.  I’ll fall asleep but wake in God’s new heaven, sheltered safe within the arms of God.

Okay, this is really weird.  If I go off-line in a second it’s because we are now having an earthquake.  Oh MY WORD!!!  If feels so strange.  Ok, it’s over.  Just a little one.  My brother-in-law thinks they are fun.  LOL  I don’t quite know what to think about them.  It is just so strange because there is absolutely nothing you can do except to just wait until it’s over.

I wasn’t actually going to write anything tonight. I was just looking at some other blogs and catching up on some news and then I felt that little tremor so thought I would share it with you all. LOL  I know the BIG ONE is going to happen one of these days.  I just hope I’m not on the freeway or something like that.  Oh well, my life is in God’s hands.
