Yesterday I found myself humming a tune.  As I realized what it was, I began to sing, “God likes people…”, softly at first.  However, by the third time I sang the chorus I was singing rather loudly.

“God likes people, any shape, any color, any size.
You don’t have to be an angel to be really special in His eyes.
He said it in John 3:16 and He proved it on Calvary, too.
God likes people, ordinary people, people like me and you”.

This is a little song the childrens choir use to sing many years ago, but somehow it made its way back into my conciousness yesterday.  God likes people!  It doesn’t matter your color, your status in life, your shape, skinny or otherwise, where you live or anything else.  If you are a human being God thinks you are pretty special.  “God likes people, ordinary people,  people like me and you”!

I love how soul winning works.  In our Sunday service we had at least 20 brand new people.  We gave five people baptismal certificates from the park outreach and the downtown block party at SWBC.  We asked for others to stand that had been baptized at either event and 10 people stood up.  We will have certificates for them next week.  Also, in service was a man named John who no one knew how he came to be there…when asked, he said he knew some of the people who had been baptized and they had invited him to church.  I took care of his little 12 month old baby during Bible Class.  Her name is Tammy and she was such a little doll.  Brenda Pinsonault took care of her during the main service.  There was several others in service just like John.  They had been invited by the new ones who had just been baptized and received the Holy Ghost.  God is at work in these last days and I just want to jump right in the middle of it and be used wherever and whenever I can.  If that means spending the Bible hour in the nursery so a baby’s dad can receive something from the word without distraction, then that’s where I want to be.  If it means taking someone to get a hamburger and coke, giving someone a Bible Study on one of my “off” nights, etc. then that is where I want to be.  There is an old song that says, “Jesus Use Me.  Oh Lord, please don’t refuse me.  Surely there’s a work that I can do.  Even though it’s humble, Lord help my will to crumble.  Though the cost be great I’ll work for you.”  That has never been one of my favorite songs but the words seemed to strike a chord with me this weekend.  It doesn’t matter, just let me be part of what God is doing.  There are so many areas in the work of God that need to be filled.  There is a place for everyone!

How will the Lord use my life the rest of this year?  Next year?  This month?  Today?  Is there one thing I can do to make life better for someone else?  Can I warm the home of an elderly friend?  Chill out so a teenager can open up to my love and concern?  Knock on the door of a single mom?  The possibilities are endless.  God expects us to use our brains and figure out what we can do to make a difference.  Jesus Use Me, wherever YOU see fit.

Where do I begin? The highly anticipated week-end has come and gone and we are ecstatic and a little in shock and very humbled for what God has done.  Yes, We prayed and fasted.  We planted and watered seed and GOD gave the increase.  Soul Winners Boot Camp was above and beyond what we could have thought.  On the first night, Thursday, the presence of God met with us in a powerful way.  We were off to a good start.  All day Friday the sessions with Bro. Matt Maddix, Bro. David Smith, Bro. Tim Downs and Bro. Travis Worthington were packed with superb information about soul winning and also the presence of God.  A huge shout out to this team.  You guys were great!  We had 91 boot campers registered.  I must say that I don’t think I have ever been around that many people at one time that the only reason we were together was to reach the lost.  Boot Campers, your attitudes were awesome.  I so enjoyed having you here in Hollister.  Your hard work in walking the streets of our city and witnessing to people paid off, BIG TIME!!!

Friday Night we had a downtown block party and I stood in amazement as people were so hungry for God that they got baptized in their street clothes in cold water.  And then watched as God miraculously filled them with the Holy Ghost.  On Saturday we had an event in one of the parks in town and even though the day was warmer than the night before, I once again stood in amazement as people so hungry for God was baptized in their street clothes in the cold water.  And, once again watched as God filled them with the Holy Ghost.  My husband said he was overwhelmed one time when he saw three young boys who had just been baptized, standing together and praying, as all three of them began to speak in tongues at the same time and received the Holy Ghost.  There are so many stories to tell, I cannot possibly put them all here.  Just know that God moved in a sovereign way in Hollister this last few days.  On Sunday, the Lord met with us again.  Many of the people that was at the block party and the park was in church on Sunday.  One lady and her daughter received the Holy Ghost while the chorale was singing, “Everybody Ought To Know (Who Jesus Is)”.  They were baptized on Friday Night downtown and received the Holy Ghost today. 10 people received the Holy Ghost in our Sunday Service.

After service on Sunday our family took my father-in-law out for his 76th birthday.  While we were eating we received a phone call from one of the saints…she had invited her neighbor and a couple in our church over for dinner.  While they were eating and talking about the good things of God the neighbor said that she wanted the Holy Ghost.  They stopped what they were doing and began to pray and she received the Holy Ghost right there in her living room.  Like I said, to many stories to tell.

So…All totaled for this week-end:  70 received the Holy Ghost and 61 Baptized.

To my awesome church family, “The Pentecostal Church”…I cannot describe my feelings for you today. Proud, thankful, in awe, amazed…I know how hard you have worked and how much you have prayed and fasted for revival.  I did not see one person that was not involved in some way or other in this past weekend.  That is not hyperbole.  That is the truth.  There are so many details that go into a meeting like this and you all pulled it off with class and efficiency.  Nathaniel you did a superb job in organizing everything.  I am proud. 🙂  Your immediate team that you worked with was unbelievably good too.  Please allow me to say, as great as this was,  THIS IS ONLY THE BEGINNING!!!  God has opened the flood-gates of heaven.  We must keep working until Jesus comes.  Let’s take many souls with us from Hollister to dance on streets of gold.  God bless you all mightily.  Read more here!  See report from Nathaniel here.

I am very excited about Soul Winners Boot Camp!  It’s just a few days away, October 23-25.  Our church has been praying a fasting for several weeks now and you can already feel the effects in our services and even around town.  It is as if the ceiling is being taken off the atmosphere and the light of God is beginning to shine through in and around our area.  I am honored that we will be hosting such a dedicated group of people who want to be soul winners in their home towns and churches.  Those of you who are coming to Hollister for SWBC, let me say even now, You are welcomed here and we are so glad you are coming to learn and participate in soul winning with Bro. Maddix and his team.  When you leave and go back to your respective places I know you will be inspired and equipped to win souls for the great Kingdom of God.  Time is short! We must work while we have a little bit of daylight left.  The night is swiftly coming, when no man can work and bring forth a harvest.  Let’s win souls together and see people brought to their knees in repentance and then filled with the precious gift of the Holy Ghost and baptized in the only saving name, Jesus.  I am already looking forward to reports coming back about the souls you are going to win when you go back home. WOW! See you all in a few hours! The SWBC motto is, “In Your Face Devil”.  Yes!  Let’s see just how many people we can get out of his clutches before the Lord makes His return to the earth.  I want to take many with me in the rapture. How about you?

Sunday as our little niece prayed at the altar I felt impressed to say something to her. I had Teresa (my sister-in-law) come over to where we were so she could hear what I said to Victoria. I simply said, “Victoria, I want you to ask Jesus every day this week for the Holy Ghost and then next Sunday you will receive it.” She said she would. Wednesday night before church when she came and gave me her usual hug and “Hi, Aunt Ronda”, I said “Have you been asking Jesus to fill you with the Holy Ghost”. She said, “Yes I have”. Well I was expecting her to receive the Holy Ghost on Sunday but God had different plans. The altar service was in progress and Nathaniel came up to the organ and said to me, “Look at Victoria” and when I looked she was standing alone with tears streaming down her face and hands lifted high, praising God. Just a few moments after I saw this sight my husband asked for anyone who was sick to come forward and be anointed with oil for healing. Victoria and Brandon (her brother) both came to the front with others. As Bro. Andrew Buxton (visiting minister) laid hands on these folks you could see the anointing come upon them. When he laid hands on Victoria for healing I saw him back away slightly and then ask her Dad, Scott, “Does she have the Holy Ghost?” and Scott said, “not yet”. Bro. Buxton laid his hands on her again and she began to speak in tongues as the Spirit gave utterance. It was such a beautiful thing. I watched as her Sunday School teachers (Jim and Marian Knutson) prayed with her. Thank God for good Sunday School Teachers that care even though it’s Wednesday night and they are tired. Here is another little faith builder…Monday night at Daughters of Zion prayer meeting we specifically asked the Lord to fill Victoria with the Holy Ghost this week. Remember this, specific prayers get specific answers!

This was just a “regular” Wednesday night Bible Study. My husband had taught on prayer. The spirit of God was so strong that folks began coming to the altar without being asked and began to pray. I love it when God moves in and takes over and blesses our seemingly small efforts. When I left the church last night I could hear 3 of our young men travailing before the Lord. I don’t know how late they stayed and prayed but I know that something was taking place in the spirit world. I look forward to seeing what God will do for these young men in the future. Other blessings were poured out on God’s people in this service that was greatly needed, but time ‘nor space is adequate to put it all here. Suffice to say, God blessed Bro. Andrew Buxton with a needed blessing and if he wants to tell about it I will let him do that. Thank God for Victory!

$100.00 If I offered you a crisp one hundred dollar bill would you take it? Now if I took that same $100.00 and crinkled it in my hand and then offered it to you, would you still take it? What if I took the crinkled money and put it in my garden and got it all dirty? How about then?

I believe you would still take the money because you would recognize that no matter if it’s crisp and new or crinkled and dirty the value is still the same. It will still spend at the store. I believe that’s the way with a soul. It matters not to God where that soul has been or how broken and dirty it is, they are still of great value to God and should be to us.

I am reminded of the old poem, “The Touch of The Master’s Hand” that my Dad used so many times when preaching about and to the lost. I want to see every soul through the eyes of compassion. Let’s value every one we meet and those who enter our church doors. No matter how ragged, soiled or broken, just one touch of His hand can make them a New Creature.

Violin

It was battered and scarred,
And the auctioneer thought it
Hardly worth his while
To waste his time on the old violin,
But he held it up with a smile.
“What am I bid, good people”, he cried,
“Who starts the bidding for me?”
“One dollar, one dollar, Do I hear two?”
“Two dollars, who makes it three?”
“Three dollars once, three dollars twice, going for three”,

But, No,
From the room far back a gray haired man
Came forward and picked up the bow,
Then wiping the dust from the old violin
And tightening up the strings,
He played a melody, pure and sweet,
As sweet as the angel sings.

The music ceased and the auctioneer
With a voice that was quiet and low,
Said “What now am I bid for this old violin?”
As he held it aloft with its’ bow.
“One thousand, one thousand, Do I hear two?”
“Two thousand, Who makes it three?”
“Three thousand once, three thousand twice,
Going and gone”, said he.

The audience cheered,
But some of them cried,
“We just don’t understand.”
“What changed its’ worth?”
Swift came the reply.
“The Touch of the Masters Hand.”

And many a man with life out of tune,
All battered and scarred by sin,
Is auctioned cheap to a thoughtless crowd
Much like that old violin.
A mess of pottage, a glass of wine,
A game and he travels on.
He is going once, he is going twice,
He is going and almost gone.
But the Master comes,
And the foolish crowd never can quite understand,
The worth of a soul and the change that is wrought
By the Touch of the Master’s Hand.
