When I woke up this morning I had this song on my mind, “There is name! Precious name! Oh Jesus! There is a name!” It is a chorus that continues to build with some of the attributes that are in the Name of Jesus…Healing, Deliverance, Salvation. And then it asks the question, “Does anyone love the name? Precious Name. Oh Jesus. There is a name”.
Paul, when writing to the church at Philippi, noted: Philippians 2:9-11
9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
There is none other like the man Jesus. To hear the name Jesus should cause us to think of all He is to us. Savior, Redeemer, Living Word, Emmanuel, Wonderful, Counselor, Prince of Peace, Friend (that sticks closer than a brother)…and SO much more. The Name Jesus is above all names. Acts 4:12 tells us that “there is none other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved”. Precious Name!
That of Jesus goes way beyond the story of an infant placed in a manger after his birth. This Jesus is our only hope of salvation! He is our supreme example of how we can live pleasing to God even while in the flesh. There is none like HIM. Oh what a Savior! What a great name! We can call on Him, on that name anytime and He is right there. Yes! I love the name, Jesus!
Oh! I love that song! Maybe our choir can sing it. π I LOVE the name, JESUS! Great post
When I woke this morning, my first thought was, “Lord, forgive Hollister”. Oh, what a message from God yesterday! It has given me a new way to pray for the lost and I’m so excited about it! I know your readers here won’t know what I’m talking about. Maybe I’ll blog about it. π
I love the name of Jesus too. There is so much available to us because of his great name – salvation, healing, deliverance, joy, peace and much more. I’m thankful for the privilige to know His great name. I was thrilled this week, because Jennifer figured out how to play “Let Me Tell You Who Jesus Is” and we were able to sing it in church yesterday. Thanks for this great post!

Beautiful post. I remember last year when the WAY Choir was in rehearsals. The had already practiced about 12 hours one day and it was about 10:00 PM when they started to sing, “Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, something happens….” Suddenly, all the choir began to weep and pray. It turned into a two hour prayer meeting and the presence of God was so strong in the room. Yes, there is something about THAT name. Oh, how I love Jesus!
